Tamara Lee Bailey is a multi-disciplinary Australian-Filipina artist.
Tamara is making her debut with Bell Shakespeare and is currently performing as Regan for King Lear.
Earlier this year, she played Lady Anne in Richard III at the Seymour Centre by Sport For Jove.
Her first main stage theatre performance was on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: The Reimagining, wherein she performed as Delphi Diggory, Moaning Myrtle, Rose Granger-Weasley, Lily Potter, Trolley Witch, Madam Hooch and Polly Chapman at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne from May 2022 - July 2023.
In 2022, Tamara had the pleasure of playing a variety of characters in Mikki Vs The World, Season 2 with ABC. Tamara Lee thoroughly enjoyed performing on such a vibrant, comedic show, that centres on mental health awareness for young people.
Tamara completed a director’s mentorship with award-winning theatre company Sport For Jove. As part of her mentorship, she utilised her skills in directing and acting for their production of As You Like It directed by Damien Ryan in January 2022.
In December 2019, Tamara graduated with a Bachelor degree as a classically trained actor from Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), University of Melbourne. In her training she performed in leading roles, including Desdemona in Othello (dir. Budi Miller), Canary Mary in Fucking A (dir. Candy Bowers), Varya in The Cherry Orchard (dir. Helen Trenos) and Cindy in Fefu and Her Friends (dir. Sapidah Kian).
“Tamara is an exceptional student who brings to her training and creative work skill, generosity and humility. It is this combination of attributes, as well as her wonderful energy and enthusiasm, that make her a pleasure to teach. I have been consistently impressed by her energy and engagement and by her exemplary academic results.”
Working alongside professional industry directors, Tamara has traversed the stages of Sydney and Melbourne as an instinctive, expressive, sophisticated and graceful theatrical actress. She has performed at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), Sport For Jove, Victorian College of The Arts (VCA), Melbourne Fringe Festival, Theatre Works, Genesian Theatre and Riverside Theatre.
“Tamara was professional and very supportive of her scene partner and process. She has a very great work ethic that will serve her very well in the industry. She’s charming and is able to let that shine in her work.”
With a fervour for film, Tamara has successfully landed leading roles in short films and feature films. Her most recently released short film, Idle (dir. Bridget Doyle, 2019), received praise from Australian film directors Garth Davis (Lion, 2016) and Sue Brooks (Road to Nhill, 1997), where Tamara played the lead.
“Tamara's an outstanding actor: intelligent, naturally graceful, talented, expressive, dedicated, hard-working and thoroughly professional. Her Desdemona in 2018 was one of the best I've seen. Beyond her acting, she's athletic and agile, trained in dance and martial arts, a younger "Lara Croft" or Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger). Kind, funny, authentic and ridiculously humble, Tamara is ready to take the world by storm.”
